Help us support people facing hunger this winter by joining us for the UK’s biggest food collection.
From the 1st to 3rd December, we’re hosting a food collection with Tesco as part of the ninth Neighbourhood Food Collection.
Christmas can be a difficult time for individuals and families who are already managing on extremely tight budgets. The increased winter fuel bills, and the pressure of choosing between heating and eating, will sadly push many families into food crisis.
Donations made to our foodbank are used to provide three-days of nutritionally balanced, emergency food to people in crisis that have been referred by frontline professional agencies such as Citizens Advice or children’s centres.
Whilst at the foodbank, clients will be welcomed, listened to and signposted to services that can provide support with the underlying causes of their crisis, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
Tesco top up customer donations by making a 20% financial contribution, so by getting involved you will not only help provide vital food for UK people experiencing crisis, but funds will help Trussell Trust foodbanks provide important support beyond food, to tackle the root causes of poverty.
We are thrilled that the UK’s largest supermarket shares our vision that no one should go hungry, and is working with us to empower local communities and fight poverty.
Will you join us to help stop UK hunger?
DAY 1 – Thursday – Well we have got off to a great start, on the first of our 3 days in Tesco Carmarthen.
A story from Thursday; Ann-Marie asked two young school boys that came in asked about the food collection, and I asked them to “get a tin on their way out.” They donated a couple of tins. When I asked them “did they feel good now” they were smiling and said “yes”!
All help is welcome.
Paul the Xcel Project manager popped in to do his shift. All that food is making him hungry.
A story from Thursday; A lady spoke to one of the collection team today and thanked the Carmarthen Foodbank for what they do. The last 2 years she has needed to use the Foodbank to get her back on her feet. She donated today to help somebody else in hunger this winter.
The Xcel Furniture boys have turned up to take the food collected on Thursday back to the Foodbank.
