Carmarthen Foodbank is one of over 1,200 Trussell Trust Foodbanks across the UK, and there are several hundred independent foodbanks besides. The five year strategic aim of the Trussell Trust is to work towards alleviating the need for foodbanks entirely, by addressing the causes of food poverty. Here in Carmarthen we are committed to working with the Trussell Trust to achieve this goal locally. In the meantime, we remain fully committed to providing emergency food parcels for individuals and families in crisis, and we will do so for as long as it remains a need.
As we continue to provide emergency food we will work with Carmarthen Community Money Advice and others to tackle the issues that cause people to require the services of a foodbank. Much of the work of the Foodbank and CMA is funded through the Xcel Bowl. However the Covid crisis has naturally impacted our ability to do more. In order to help us address this new challenge, we are inviting you to consider supporting us by becoming a patron of Carmarthen Foodbank and Community Money Advice, by committing to a regular monthly donation, enabling us to broaden the scope of our work with disadvantaged families.
